Periodically, I check the Stats page, to see how many views I have, and from which countries. One of the features of the Stats page is that it tells me the top search terms that were used that led people to Quilas. Some of them are very specific: “can major repairs be capitalized for rental income.” Others are less so: “fine fare logo.”
But this one:
Who would write that? If you didn’t already know of the band Swedish House Mafia, why would you search for “bands with initials shm”. That’s like searching for “singers with the name gaga”.

I saw that this morning. I don’t see how it has anything to do with anything I’ve said about 7-Eleven. If you recall, I was critical of this practice. I’m no less critical of it when applied to 7-Eleven, or any other company.
On the other hand, N7E used this practice as a defense of bodegas and other small businesses.

From the NY Times: “Through the scheme, officials said, the defendants hired more than 50 illegal immigrants, provided them with more than 20 identities stolen from United States citizens, including children and dead people, put them up at houses owned by the defendants and stole substantial portions of their wages. ”
If nothing else this should serve as a reminder that immigrant rights are worker rights and that worker rights are human rights. This is true whether the exploiter is a small business or a multinational firm.
